Today I want to give you some handy hints and tips  - things to think about before you have your family Portrait taken....

First of all have a think about what you are all going to wear. You don't all need to wear matching outfits, but if you are reasonably colour co-ordinated it does look better, so you don't all need to be wearing white shirts and blue jeans, but make sure you're not wearing colours that clash either. Also make sure that you are all dressed in either the same casual or similar smart style - as having some casual and some dressed up also doesn't look right.

The main thing to think about is, that if kids are in clothes that they like and feel comfortable in then they wont fidget and mess with their clothes, making it easier to get great relaxed photographs of them.

If you have younger children, it may be best to let them bring a favourite teddy bear or toy or even often the promise of a treat for smiling at the camera can help.
