I have been asked a question today and feel that I should probably share the answer.
Why am I A Photographer? I was first given a camera at a very young age – 5 I think and I loved it, it was like a miniature 35mm thing, I will get a photo of it as I still have it – of course, I loved what it could do. I loved the way it made me look at the world.
I had my first proper camera at 8 years old, full size with rolls of film.Wow.
I love being able to capture moments in time that can have such an amazing effect on people, memories from family portrait shoots, a beautiful bride and moments from her wedding that she was too busy getting married to even notice pass by. Photographs of her and her groom that bring tears of joy for years to come. Their first child. The puppy.
I have the ability to capture beautiful moments for people that they can’t capture in the same way. We all have things that we were just born to do. I was born to take photographs, to capture moments, whether I’m lying in wait for some wildlife in Africa or Antarctica to photographing families in my studio with their new born baby or dog. They are all wonderful moments that make me smile and fulfill my life. This is why I am a photographer. As my husband will tell you, I live, eat and breathe photography it consumes my life. It’s who I am and what I do.
This is why I am a photographer. I love taking photographs and making people and their products look fabulous. When I photograph products for people and they use the images and sell more of their product, for me this is the proof of what wonderful photography can do to help businesses. This is why I do what I do, because on so many levels it makes a massive difference to so many people.
Why do you do what you do?
I hope you love what you do as much as I love being a photographer. I hope this answers the question I was asked. Thank you for being interested enough to ask me.
I also have to say I am eternally grateful for having such an understanding husband
